This series draws inspiration from Jhumpa Lahiri’s acclaimed collection of short stories, delving into themes of love, desire, and a sense of belonging within a close-knit Indian American community.
The eight-episode drama unfolds in the immigrant neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts, showcasing the intricacies of relationships.
According to the official synopsis, Unaccustomed Earth takes viewers into the exclusive Indian-American community of Cambridge, Massachusetts, highlighting a poignant romance between Parul Chaudhury (played by Pinto) and her long-lost love, leading to a scandalous affair. Siddharth portrays Amit Mukherjee, the love interest of Pinto’s character. Amit is depicted as a compassionate Bengali-American, raised in Cambridge, who is emotionally expressive and consistently supports his friends and family, often at his own expense. Despite his dependability during crises, Amit faces challenges in maintaining stability in his personal and professional life.
Ritesh Batra will helm the direction of the series, with executive producers including Madhuri Shekar, John Wells, Ritesh Batra, Jhumpa Lahiri, Nisha Ganatra, Erica Saleh, Erin Jontow, and Celia Costas.
